Turns this layout into boxed text to read at the table, plus three tactical hooks. Uses AI; the map itself never needs it.

Quick answer: Press New bandit camp to roll a camp on 5-ft squares: a palisade with a gate and gaps, tents around a central campfire, a lookout, the leader’s table with the loot, and forest and undergrowth on every side. Export as PNG or .dd2vtt.

How the camp is built

The camp sits in a round clearing. A wooden palisade circles it with a gate facing the trail and a few gaps where stakes have fallen, so there is more than one way in. Tents ring the campfire, the leader’s table and loot sit to one side, and a lookout platform stands by the gate. Woods and patches of undergrowth surround the clearing for a stealthy approach.

Three ways to use this map

  1. The bandits are deserters, and the captain is willing to talk.
  2. The loot includes a noble’s child, who does not want to be rescued.
  3. Half the camp is out raiding; they will be back in ten rounds.

Who lives here? Bandits (CR 1/8) and a bandit captain (CR 2), with a scout (CR 1/2) on the lookout; swap in goblins and a goblin boss for a goblin camp. Check the difficulty for your party in the encounter builder, then use the read-aloud writer under the map for boxed text.

Questions game masters ask

How do I run a bandit camp attack?

Let the players scout first: show the lookout, the gate and the gaps in the palisade. Stealth, a night raid, fire or a parley are all good options. Count how many bandits are awake and add the rest as reinforcements from the tents.

How many bandits should be in the camp?

Under the 2014 rules, six awake bandits (CR 1/8) are a hard fight for four level-1 characters once the group multiplier is applied (150 XP × 2 = 300), and eight are already deadly. That is why sleeping bandits and a lookout matter. Check your numbers in the encounter builder.

Can I make it an orc or goblin camp?

Yes. The layout works for any raiders. Swap the creatures and, if you like, paint over the palisade gaps for a tighter fort.
